This is an unpaid fellowship through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program. The fellow selected for this role will not receive compensation or benefits from GDIT and will not be an employee, agent or contractor of GDIT but rather will remain an employee of the DoW and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoW. Type of Requisition: Regular Clearance Level Must Currently Posses: Top Secret SCI Polygraph Clearance Level Must Be Able To Obtain: Top Secret SCI Polygraph Public Trust/Other Required: None Job Family: Technical Support Services Job Qualifications: Skills: Communication, Customer Service, Information Technology (IT) Certifications: None Experience: 8 years of related experience US Citizenship Required: Yes Job Description: Through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program , GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands-on training and experience as a Systems Technician Fellow , supporting mission-critical information systems and customer operations in secure, operational environments. In this Fellowship, participants will observe and participate in real-world system installation, troubleshooting, incident response, and technical documentation activities while gaining exposure to enterprise systems operations and sustainment efforts. The Fellow will work alongside experienced GDIT systems technicians and customer counterparts, gaining practical experience that prepares them for a successful transition into civilian systems technician, technical support, or systems sustainment roles. As a Systems Technician Fellow , you will train under the guidance of senior technical staff to develop practical skills in system deployment, hardware and software troubleshooting, customer support, and technical documentation. Throughout the Fellowship, you will gain exposure to how systems are installed, maintained, upgraded, and supported, and how technical solutions are developed to address complex operational challenges in accordance with DoW standards and operational requirements. HOW A SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: Observing and assisting with installation and deployment of systems hardware, software, and upgrades. Supporting senior systems technicians during troubleshooting, incident response, and complex customer support activities. Learning how technical solutions are developed to resolve difficult systems and operational problems. Assisting in the preparation, review, and maintenance of technical documentation for system operations and procedures. Gaining exposure to enterprise systems environments and operational sustainment activities. Collaborating with cross-functional technical teams to support mission objectives. Participating in process improvement efforts related to systems support and operational efficiency. Supporting special projects and learning how systems teams contribute to program and project success in secure environments. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: Associates of Arts / Associates of Science or equivalent experience. Experience: 8 years of related experience in systems support, technical operations, system installation, or troubleshooting. Technical Skills: Familiarity with systems applications, hardware, and associated peripheral devices. Understanding of troubleshooting methodologies, incident response, and customer support principles. Ability to develop, follow, and document systems processes and procedures. Strong communication and customer service skills. Certifications (Program Requirements): Security CE or other DoD 8570-compliant certification. PWS 9.1 certification. Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI w/ Polygraph required Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required. Location: On-site DoW SkillBridge Eligibility: Has served at least 180 days on active duty Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement Will receive an honorable discharge Has taken any service TAP/TGPS Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoW SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.
