Job Description Locums - Cardiovascular Surgery - Call Only - Colorado Springs, CO Why This Role? - Ongoing 1-2 weeks per month coverage with flexible scheduling - High-acuity role at a Level 1 trauma center - Solo on-call responsibility with dedicated APP support - Advanced surgical exposure including ECMO and CABG Duration: Ongoing Coverage Type: Call Only Schedule: Friday through Sunday 24-hour beeper call, plus select weekday vacation coverage Clinical Details: - Hospital-based, adult-only cardiovascular surgery service - 1 2 admissions per shift, 8 10 ICU patients, 1 2 surgeries/day - 400-bed hospital with 12-bed ICU - 2 physicians and 5 advanced practice providers - No thoracic surgeons onsite during locum coverage - Supervision and clinical oversight of APPs required during call - EMR: Epic Requirements: - Board Certified in Cardiovascular Surgery - Active CO license or IMLC - Proficient in all required cardiac procedures - Experience with cardiac surgery and dissections - Recent high surgical case volume (submit years of experience) - ACLS (AHA) - BLS (AHA) - COVID vaccination - Clean history Skills Needed: - Open general cardiovascular and thoracic surgery - Coronary artery bypass surgery (on-pump and off-pump) - Valvular repair and replacement - Aneurysm repair (cardiac and aorto-thoracic) - Congenital defects: ASD, VSD, PFO - ECMO cannulation and patient stabilization for transport
